This is a “false signals” hand.

West leads the A.  East can see four defensive tricks – two spades and two hearts ~ If East can get West to cash his second heart winner.  If East plays the 2 at trick one, West will most likely to switch to diamonds through dummy’s strength.  Declarer can then cash three rounds of clubs or diamonds and discard a heart (the defender’s second heart trick).

East must give a false signal (yes, lie to partner) to get West to cash his second heart!  East plays the 10 at trick one.  West cashes the K and leads a third heart for East to trump.  East follows to the third round of hearts and West frowns.   East sits back and waits for declarer to play trumps and scores two spade tricks.  At the end of the hand, West ‘s frown turns to a smile!
